Juliet at AFH August 2026

Dear friends and supporters, this is an account of Juliet’s first few days of recently visiting Abba Father’s House in Jinja, Uganda.

After a long journey, she finally arrived at the home on Thursday evening. Almost as soon as she reached the gate, the heavens opened and there was a heavy downpour of rain for about an hour. It felt especially unusual because it has been the dry season and there had been no sign of rain earlier in the day.

The rain was so strong that even getting Juliet’s luggage and shopping out of the car became a challenge. In just that short time, it caused quite a bit of damage around the home. Many of the banana plants were uprooted, one of the camera poles was bent and had to be cut and welded, and a transformer in the neighbourhood blew. Thankfully, the transformer connected to the home did not blow, although the electricity went off and has not yet returned. They are very grateful for the solar power, without which the home would have been left in total darkness. The rain tanks were also filled, which was a blessing.

Over the first few days, Juliet has been able to look around the home and begin to understand how things are going. The home itself looks good, and the children appear well and cared for. That has been very encouraging for her to see.

At the same time, Juliet has become aware of some disunity among the staff team. She would value prayer for wisdom, grace, and God’s favour as she listens, encourages, and helps where she can. She also hopes to spend time with the older boys so she can hear their side of the story and better understand what is needed.

Juliet is thankful that her luggage arrived safely, although one suitcase had opened during the journey and a few toys were lost, as well as a clock being broekn. Even so, she is grateful to be there safely and to have begun settling in.
