Despite COVID 19, Abba Fathers House is maintaining a green environment
Dear , welcome to our October newsletter from Abba Father's House! We aim to update you with what is on the ground as often as possible to let you know how we are getting on. We pray and trust that the Lord has kept you safe. Thank you for being a blessing to us especially to the children and young adults whose lives your partnership with AFH is transforming. We cannot claim that it is easy to keep operating but all in all, we are moving on and drawing hope from the Lord for our protection and mercy in order for COVID 19 to end.
When you read the Bible, you find that God instructs us many times not to fear. This is because God is always with us and willing to help us in all situations if we look to Him. Despite all odds, we are staying single focused to serve and be there for orphans and vulnerable children and also support the widows as much as we can, with the support of our dear partners and friends.

It is not getting any easier to manage many children under the current COVID 19 restrictions. To cheer the children up as they have been confined at home since March when lockdown kicked in, we arranged for weekend mission for the last week of September with the Smile Youth Group through Steven Jota Children Centre our affiliation.
The Smile Team engaged the children and staff in various activities from Friday to Sunday which was so much fun for both children and the staff who were able to learn extra skills in engaging young people.
Help Us Be In The Moment
Education wise, this year has already been lost as schools in Uganda are still closed. We would like to rise above the water to start fundraising somehow, it could be through virtual activities such as musical concerts, zoom talks, application grants, contacts to companies or contacts through friends who might be able to help us with financial and practical support.
Any funds we raise will help us hire teachers at least twice a week at a charge of £15, complete phase 2, also construct a Carpentry workshop and also to be able to buy teaching materials for home schooling use.
To assist staff with home schooling, we recently arranged for a teacher to visit and teach for 2 days a week with emphasis on social distancing.
The Carpentry Project
We could construct something similar
COVID 19 being what it is now, we have been thinking deeply about what can be done differently for us to maintain our services and to keep focus on the call to fend and nurture for the vulnerable orphans. Our biggest need is to be able to engage children socially, practically and emotionally. With the support of our partners, now is the time to point children in the right direction so they can learn to manage themselves even through the difficult circumstances that life throws at us.
The children and young adults in our care still need our help to grow up despite the mess COVID 19 Pandemic has brought because the services we offer cannot be put on hold. This puts us in an awkward situation to choose either return the children to their Guardians who have nothing to offer them or pray and positively engage in looking for ways and support and keep doing what we are called to do, a day at a time even through challenges.
Schools in Uganda are still not open because of COVID 19 restrictions and it is a challenge for us to keep them engaged despite provision of home schooling. With availability of funds, we could start a carpentry project to increase the project work which could play a big part to engage children especially the boys. We have consulted with the relevant people who have given us an estimate of £5,000 for starting a standard structure with basic tools. We have enough land for this structure to be constructed and a trainer to start them off. All we need is funds. We will value your prayers, advice and financial support. It would also be great if you could share with your friends and family or even to companies that might be willing to support in this matter.
The current news on COVID 19 in Uganda
I wish I could tell that the situation about COVID 19 is getting better. Unfortunately, COVID 19 news continue to bombard the headlines throughout the world and Uganda is now seriously battling with it. Since our last newsletter, it is reported that COVID 19 has claimed 60 lives in Uganda including a member of parliament and more than 3000 infected cases so far, but the numbers are increasing daily. It’s really challenging to battle with COVID 19 in third world countries due to poverty and it is hard to get local people to abide by guidelines. AFH home has been keen in keeping social distancing measures as much as possible.
Sadly, some of our supporters have been affected by job losses because companies and businesses are not open and some employers have had to reduce number of their employees due to financial challenges caused by the COVID 19 pandemic. This has left us with a financial gup that needs filling please. It costs us £50 per month per child but there is also room for shared sponsorship whereby a child can be sponsored by more than one person therefore whosoever wishes to sponsor a child can give any amount. If would like to sponsor a child, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you details on child sponsorship. Otherwise you can give a general gift to Abba Father’s House towards our other needs.
Sales from our local projects are also getting affected due to customers not having money to purchase our products. Your financial support will be much appreciated.
Unfortunately, our Juliet (one of our Directors) lost three of her relatives this September including her beloved mother. To make it worse she was not able to travel to Uganda for burial as Entebbe airport is not open to commercial flights which was very sad.
Juliet sends her appreciation to those of you who were able to offer her help and comfort in her time of need especially Runnymede Christian Fellowship and her work colleagues.
Updates on our Phase 2 building
On a positive note, the building work is slowly coming to a completion. This season, we completed the plumbing work as you can see in the pictures above but still needing further funds to complete. We are required by the Government to separate older children as soon as possible. Any assistance towards the finishes of the building will be a huge relief. Please help us spread the word for this need.
This October also started off well with the new arrival of piglets. Three other pigs are due to give birth soon. The project is going well a part from the challenge of sales being slow as COVID 19 rampages on because not many people have money and meat is considered as a luxury. In future when things improve, we intend to buy machinery to make sausages and bacon to expand the project, God willing.
Thanks to those of you who contributed towards the starting of Pig’s project.
Shop at Amazon and support Abba Father’s House
Amazon supports charity work and Abba Father’s House is one of the charities recognised by Amazon. Please help us raise funds whenever you shop at Amazon. What this means is that when you shop at Amazon, you can get Amazon to donate to Abba Fathers House, 0.5% of your spend. To do this all you need is to login to Amazon through https://smile.amazon.co.uk, it will then ask you to choose the charity of your choice, please search for Abba Father’s - House (specifically with the apostrophe), then every time you purchase something login to Amazon through the smile URL and 0.5% of what you spend will go to AFH. This is also a great way to raise funds for Abba Father’s House.
